South Orange, NJ –Has this ever happened to you? It’s 7 A.M. and you have a full day at the office, consisting of three business meetings plus you are hosting a charity event at night. There is no time for you to change your hairstyle, so you must work your look around the clock. As you look in the mirror, you wonder, “What should I do with my hair?”
Let’s face it, women love hair; it is more than something that tops off our head, it’s a part of us. Our hair defines us, it’s a statement our body makes and sets the tone for the style of our life. We wear it in ways that best expresses our mood of the moment and displays what we love about ourselves; It matters not if it’s a weave or homegrown, natural or relaxed, short or long, or if it’s colored by a bottle or by nature. We are all excited about our hair, and protective of how it looks.
Our hair is the opportunity our body has to make a statement about ourselves, and My Salon Scoop wants to serve you on the unique journeys of your hair. More than just another fashion accoutrement, our hair is a very important part of our bodies, and it is for this reason that My Salon Scoop wants to revolutionize your hair salon experience.
Their mission is to become the most trusted resource for savvy women as they choose new hair salons. To empower women to take more control of their hair salon experiences by providing access to valuable information to guide them on their hair journeys.
Launched by V. Woods, My Salon Scoop reflects her passion to help women of color get the most of the literally thousands of dollars they spend each and every year on salon services and hair products. Woods has worked for several Fortune 500 companies in Finance and Product Management. She is a graduate of Northwestern University with a BA in Economics and The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania with an MBA in Finance. She also is active in the community as a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and a board member of Harlem United Community AIDS Center and the Seven Roses Legacy Foundation.
The goal of My Salon Scoop is to facilitate a real exchange among sister friends to help them make smarter decisions about their salon experience and to have healthier hair. Those of us who sit in the chairs can and should feel more empowered as clients. Through your constructive feedback, the website can raise the collective game of hair salons across the country. My Salon Scoop will find ways to highlight those salons that really understand service and cater to the various needs of woman of color. In addition, they will do our best to bring you the facts while dispelling the myths and highlighting hot trends to meet the hair goals for you, your family, and your extended network of friends.
Veronica’s decision to launch this site came about after exhausting her own list of women where she asked the basic question, “Where does she get her hair done…and is she happy there?” After hearing what her friends and associates had to say Woods thought there had to be a better way. Her main objective with the site is to facilitate the exchange of information that is typically only shared among small groups of friends about their hair salon experiences and to spread it across an online community of sisters.
Along with salon reviews, the revolutionary website unleashes a new voice to explore women’s obsession with hair behind the backdrop of the hair salon. Through a bit of sass and a healthy dose of humor, My Salon Scoop provides tips through stories that chronicle the lives of women through every phase — from the student who is just beginning to make her own hair decisions to the mother who is making hair decisions for others for the first time. My Salon Scoop reviews the new trends in hair-care and salon-service offerings available across the country.
